This past week, on Friday night SmackDown, we saw the return of Kevin Owens. Owens received a huge pop after his entry into the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. The pop showed how delighted the crowd was to see their prizefighter back in the WWE. Owens’ participation at the Survivor Series WarGames match was uncertain as he had suffered a possible MCL strain during a match at a house show recently. This also marked Kevin Owens’ first appearance since the September 30th edition of SmackDown.
Thereafter, Owens appeared on live shows, most recently defeating Austin Theory on his recent appearance. Kevin Owens’ absence from the company was because WWE had plans for him to be involved with Sami Zayn. WrestleVotes, during an interview with GiveMeSport said that now isn’t the right time for Owens to be involved with Zayn, but the plans haven’t been scrapped, and will definitely happen.
WrestleVotes noted, “He was pegged to get involved with Sami and The Bloodline, but that’s white-hot right now. Those plans from what I’ve been told are definitely pushed back, but they’re not off, because the plan is for Kevin Owens to be with Sami Zayn.”
However, now that Owens is back with the company, he will be part of the babyface team at the Survivor Series WarGames. This could be the beginning of Owen’s involvement in the bloodline, as well as his storyline with Zayn. Kevin Owens took to twitter and expressed gratitude toward his fans. He promised to deliver each time for them.
“Just wanted to say thank you…. Seeing the response to my return and how much you guys missed me being on your tv screen is truly humbling. You all made last night a career highlight for me and in return, I promise to always give you guys everything I have. Every. Single. Time.”
Kevin Owens wants to win the tag team championship with Sami Zayn
During an interview with the TWC show earlier this year, Kevin Owens spoke about his desire to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. He stated that since he has never been a tag team champion. He would love to win one, but not with anybody from the roster, as he has a list of his own. He said that there are a couple of guys on his list, with Sami Zayn taking the top spot. Owens stated that he and Zayn have been tag champions at every promotion they fought in, except for WWE, so he would definitely love to win here.
“I’ve never been a tag team champion,” Kevin Owens said. “I’d love to be tag team champion [with] anybody. Well, maybe not anybody……Sami is at the top of the list…. We’ve been tag team champions everywhere we’ve went, except for WWE. We definitely have to get that checked off the list soon enough.”

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been arch-rivals not just in NXT and WWE, but ever since their time together in ROH and the independent circuit. While we have seen these two go at it against each other, they can be cohesive if both put their heart and soul into it.
