WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE venue is reportedly revealed

King and Queen of the Ring is an upcoming Premier Live Event of the WWE. The event is supposed to happen on May 27, 2023. It is an extended version of the 5th biggest WWE pay-per-view of the 1990s, King of the Ring. WWE has now added the Queen’s Crown tournament, the equivalent of the King of the Ring tournament for women as well.

Various sources have reported that WWE has decided on the venue for the King and Queen of the Ring. The place that WWE has reportedly finalized for the event is Saudi Arabia. WWE is signed with the Saudi Government, making it complementary for the company to host two of its events in Saudi Arabia every year.

There have been a total of zero events that took place in Saudi Arabia this year. It is pretty unusual if fans see the pattern of WWE hosting events in recent years. WWE hosts one of its Saudi events in February and the other in October. This year, the great city of Canada, Montreal, hosted WWE’s February event, Elimination Chamber.

Hence, it is evident that WWE is off its usual schedule this year. Also, reports have confirmed that WWE will host its first Saudi Arabia event in May. Currently, the city WWE is considering for the King and Queen of the Ring event is Raiyad. However, this plan may still have changes.

Will King and Queen of the Ring become an annual P.L.E. for Saudi Arabia?

It will not be the first time someone gets crowned after winning the tournament in Saudi. In 2021, Xavier Woods won the King of the Ring when he defeated Finn Balor in the finals. Zelina Vega also won the Queen’s Crown tournament by defeating Doudrop, currently known as Piper Niven. The commencement of these two matches was in the event Crown Jewel. The host country for Crown Jewel in 2021 was Saudi Arabia.

Although Saudi Arabia has already hosted the finals for crowning the King and Queen, it will be the first time that both tournaments will commence in full force in Saudi. However, it is not a confirmation that the King and Queen of the Ring is an event that will stay. It may either be an event like Day 1 or Great Balls of Fire that happened just once and then got scrapped, or it may be an event like Crown Jewel, which is the primary host event of Saudi Arabia.

Super Showdown is another Premier Live Event that has been mostly hosted by Saudi Arabia. However, Super Showdown has been scrapped many times to host other events in Saudi Arabia whereas, Crown Jewel has become a yearly tradition for WWE. It will still take a year for the WWE Universe to know if King and Queen of the Ring is a permanent replacement for Super Showdown or if it is just a one-off event.
