The rivalry between Randy Orton and former WWE champion Kofi Kingston is nothing new for anyone. When Kingston was a WWE Champion in 2019, the two had a feud that lasted almost a decade. It all began in 2009, when Orton fell out with Kingston over a match. Therefore, the New Day member believed that even after a decade Orton was still spiteful.
While talking to Gorilla Position in 2019, Kofi Kingston talked about Randy Orton. Kingston said that The Viper might still be disregarding him and did not want him to be around. As a result, the 42-year-old had to prove Orton wrong by beating him in a match to win the title. According to Kofi Kingstone, it was necessary to prove the Apex Predator wrong.

I'm sure a lot of like him he probably still doesn't want me to be here he's probably, like spiteful that I got here despite what he tried to do. You know, but for me it's really important for me to look him in the eye beat him hold the title up over him and let him know that he was wrong so it's very very real man.Kofi Kingston on Randy Orton
The two had a match at SummerSlam in 2019, where Kofi successfully defended the title against Orton. It was a highlight of Kingston’s career to get a victory over one of his rivals over a decade ago. Unfortunately, the New Day member would lose the title a few months later to Brock Lesnar.
This resulted in Kofi Kingston losing all the momentum he had. He slid down to the mid-card and tag team division once again, never to return to the main event level again since 2019. However, fans are hoping that Kingston gets one more run with the title before all is said and done.
Latest reports on Randy Orton’s return status
It has been reported multiple times in recent weeks that Randy Orton is set to return to WWE at the Survivor Series next month. If he actually makes his comeback, this would be his first appearance on WWE programming in over 17 months. Therefore, the hype for the return is high. However, there have been conflicting reports on his return status.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter recently reported that, according to the latest reports from the doctors, Randy Orton has been advised to retire from in-ring competition. However, Orton has refused to quit before he turns 50, which is essentially seven-eight more years. The doctors suggested his retirement due to the severe nature of his back injury.
Therefore, fans will have to wait and see what Orton decides in the coming weeks. Even if Orton decides to hang up his boots, his career so far has been one of the greatest. With 14 world championships, 2 Royal Rumble victories, and numerous other achievements, Randy Orton can easily make his way into the WWE Hall of Fame.
