Kurt Angle discussed his friendship with Vince McMahon during his visit on the Busted Open Podcast. He said that he had been on excellent terms with Vince McMahon and that, during his initial stint in the WWE, the two of them were close friends. Vince and Kurt allegedly fell out in 2006, and neither of them spoke for the following 11 years until 2017. Kurt Angle said that when he got back, it was as if nothing had occurred, and they both gave each other hugs and declarations of love, continuing where they had left off.

Kurt Angle’s physique was worn down after years of wrestling in the WWE when he retired in 2006. Angle was in excruciating physical pain and had developed a dependence on pain relievers. He couldn’t keep up with WWE’s demanding schedule and worried he’d die of an overdose one day. Vince McMahon wanted him, but he required a lighter schedule and thus asked a release, resulting in a fight.

During the latest episode of his podcast “The Kurt Angle Show”, Angle talked about Vince McMahon’s son Shane McMahon and how Shane encouraged him not to leave the show after his matches. Kurt Angle recalled that when he used to leave after competing in the dark matches, Shane McMahon once stopped him and told him that he couldn’t go and that if he did, he would face criticism from the other wrestlers. Kurt said that Shane had instructed him to respect the other wrestlers and observe their matches till the end of the day. Kurt has said that Shane’s advice helped him and he learned quickly by watching the matches.

“I was doing my match, and I was leaving, like right afterward,” revealed Kurt Angle. “Shane McMahon caught me one night, and he said, ‘Kurt, you can’t leave. You’re going to get heat with all the wrestlers. You have to respect them and watch them have their matches. You have to stay until the end of the night.”

Kurt Angle’s second stint lasted until 2020 as he was released in 2020 but thereafter had appeared as a special guest referee in a match at NXT. He was offered a role of Riddle’s manager by WWE but turned down as he wants to focus on his health and nutrition business.
