Kurt Angle in WWE
Kurt Angle has been regarded as one of the greatest in ring competitor of all time. He is one of the toughest men ever to have stepped foot in the squared circle. Kurt Angle made his country proud when he won the Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the summer Olympics in 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia. Kurt Angle later on joined the WWE and was the company’s prominent and influential wrestler, who helped the company grow and develop during the attitude as well as ruthless aggression era.
Even though he is mostly known to many from his time in the WWE, Kurt Angle won’t be forgotten as the one who brought glory to his country by winning the Gold Medal with a broken neck. Kurt Angle left WWE in 2006 due to the wear and tear that his body suffered due to years of constant wrestling and the demanding schedule of the company. Angle even developed an addiction to painkillers, which he took to ease the pain and thought that if he didn’t stop, he would overdose and die one day, thereby leaving WWE in 2006. He returned to the company in 2017and reconciled with Vince McMahon and thereafter was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Angle wrestled a few times during his second run in the WWE and acted as RAW GM. He wrestled his retirement match against Happy Corbin, which he lost. He has expressed disappointment over fighting Corbin in his retirement match and that he wanted to wrestle John Cena as he had started Cena’s career and wanted him to end his, which made sense to him.

During an episode of the Kurt Angle Show in July 2021, Kurt Angle had expressed his feelings about the Gold Medal win. Angle had said that it was his lifelong dream and everything that he wanted to do. Kurt remarked that he had wanted the medal since he was a child, thus achieving it after 20 years was a great accomplishment for him. He remembered telling an NBC interviewer at the Olympics that if he died today, he would be the happiest guy in the world, and he meant it. Angle stated that he could now rest because he had completed all of his goals.
In the latest edition of the Kurt Angle Show, The Olympic Gold Medalist revealed why he didn’t take part in the 2004 Olympics. Angle stated he was thinking about it all day and night and agreed with Dave Meltzer that if he had won the gold medal in 2004, he would have been the biggest star of all time, but if he doesn’t, he’s screwed.
Kurt Angle said that he didn’t want to take a chance by leaving the company and going into Olympics, indicating that his WWE career was going on very well. He stated that winning a Gold Medal was 1000 to 1 odds, and it was the reality as he was out of the sport for eight years. Angle said that the comeback would have taken a lot more than a year of training to do that.
“So I didn’t want to take that chance by leaving the company and going to the Olympics, and it was a long shot. I mean, I really for me to win the gold medal, it was like 1000 to 1 odds, it really was because I was out of the sport for eight years and come back and get yourself ready, It’s gonna take a lot more than a year of training to do that.”
Kurt Angle is set to make an appearance on RAW on August 29th, the show being at his hometown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
