Just 24 hours ahead of his match against The Miz at Payback, LA Knight decided to completely wipe off the A-Lister. In a rivalry that ensued after The Megastar ignominiously eliminated Miz from the SummerSlam Battle Royal, it has gotten extremely personal. This week on SmackDown, the bitter foes met for the last time before heading to Pittsburgh. And, needless to say, they produced an epic segment. 

The Miz bragged about how he catapulted into superstardom in merely three years, unlike Knight, who took a couple of decades to get where he is today. Upon hearing that, LA became reminiscent of all the hardships he had been through instead of being handed everything on a silver platter. Knight warned the former WWE Champion about the beating he’s about to inflict on his opponent at Payback.

The Megastar also included Miz’s wife Maryse in his promo. “After Payback tomorrow, when I send [Maryse] a broken, battered husband, she’s going to feel empty inside.. But with one little call to this guy, we can fix that real quick,” he said. After dissing The Awesome One, the 40-year-old asked Miz not to worry about anything.

However, the former World Champion managed to deliver a Skull Crushing Finale on Knight. Before leaving, Miz told LA that the exact fate was going to replicate itself tomorrow night. However, Knight got back up and decked the A-Lister near the entrance. Somehow, Miz escaped with WWE officials, breaking them up.

After opening the proceedings on SmackDown, John Cena caught up with Kathy Kelly for an interview. He talked about his upcoming role at Payback as the event host. Before that, he weighed in on the matches. When talking about Miz vs. Knight, Cena first lauded the A-Lister for being the most underrated superstar in WWE history.

Then he offered his valuable two cents to LA Knight. As expected, Cena had immense praise for The Megastar.“I have a tremendous amount of respect for LA Knight because his trajectory is that of persistence.” He said that Knight has had a career trajectory that relates to persistence. Moreover, the 16-time World Champion commended LA’s attitude to just never give up.

John Cena said he has the exact wording on his t-shirts and tries to live up to it. However, Knight has been doing it for a long time. In a nutshell, he became LA Knight’s biggest ever compliment thus far. It would be interesting if they ever interacted on television.
