Well, the old-school wrestling fans complained about not hearing those Attitude Era pops much these days. But they now have LA Knight to fulfill their wish on a weekly basis. Not to mince words, the 40-year-old keeps hitting the button every now and then. This week on SmackDown, WWE let him open the show for the first time, and he made the most of it.

The sold-out arena in Dayton literally exploded for The Megastar. Once he got into the ring, Knight discussed his SummerSlam roadmap. Before that, he verbally dissected his competition as the production flashed an official graphic of the Slim Jim SummerSlam Battle Royal. Then he came to Sheamus, lauding him for his WWE accolades before calling the Irishman a stooge.

The two men had a decent match. It was back-and-forth for the most part, with the audience firmly behind LA Knight. Midway through, several participants of tomorrow night’s Battle Royal turned up to the ringside area. They surrounded the ring much like the lumberjacks. During the closing moments of the match, chaos broke out between everyone. Sheamus executed his 10 beats of the Bodhran on The Miz, unaware of Knight’s Blunt Force Trauma.

After being hit with the BFT, the Celtic Warrior couldn’t kick out, handing LA Knight his biggest victory to date. After the match, Karrion Kross and Grayson Waller tried to gang-up on Knight. However, displaying sheer ring awareness, he got out of harm’s way. The segment ended with Knight trash-talking with his counterparts. It remains to be seen if WWE gets it right this time around with The Megastar.

Going by the fans, everyone’s rooting for LA Knight at the moment. They claim that WWE finally has someone resonating with nuances similar to those of the Attitude Era. That said, LA isn’t restless for his inevitable rise in the company. Speaking of which, he was recently a guest on the After the Bell podcast with Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick. The Raw commentators asked Knight whether he was eager to taste the Championship gold soon.

Taking a pause, Knight didn’t actually seem thrilled with the idea. Expressing his dilemma about winning titles, he brought up his current run in the mix. Reiterating, not in an arrogant way, how hot he’s been of late, the former Eli Drake asserted that he just couldn’t stagnate. Whatever the case might be, his forthcoming months need to be on an upward trajectory, claimed Knight.

Well, the aforementioned podcast is a must-watch affair, with several other topics discussed too. PWInsider recently reported that LA Knight has impressed the higher-ups with his merchandise sales and crowd reactions. Moreover, a push is in sight for him. But the officials are just waiting for the appropriate time to pull the trigger on him.
