It’s pretty wholesome to see how dearly fans adore Liv Morgan these days. Back in the day, she struggled for years to get her footing in the business. Eventually, her efforts paid off, and she happens to be one of the most beloved women on the current WWE roster. A great example of fans’ unconditional love for Morgan was on display this past Saturday in Alabama.
WWE ran a house show there, and the crowd was on its toes for Liv Morgan. They gave her a warm reception with “welcome back” chants. After being blown away by such an overwhelming response, Liv was moved to tears. She was seen wiping off her droplets before getting ready for her match. She and Raquel Rodriguez challenged Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler for the women’s tag-team titles.
Despite the outcome, Morgan and Rodriguez still have an opportunity to prove themselves. As announced on last week’s SmackDown Lowdown, they’ll once again compete for the gold against Rousey and Baszler this Saturday at Money in the Bank. The two teams continued to scorn each other this week on Raw.
During the show, Raquel Rodriguez faced Ronda Rousey. Everything was going fine until Shayna Baszler poked her nose. She pulled Rousey out of harm’s way as Raquel was dominating the former UFC Bantamweight Champion. That caused Morgan, who was ringside, to lash out at the Queen of Spades at ringside. However, showing great situation awareness, the Rowdy One rolled up a distracted Rodriguez to get the win.
Can Liv Morgan repeat last year’s Money in the Bank glory?
Money in the Bank is the same event that deployed Liv Morgan at the forefront of her career. She won last year’s contract in Las Vegas to take a huge leap towards success. Later that night, she reached the mountain top. After, successfully cashing in her contract on Ronda Rousey, the former Riott Squad member captured the SmackDown Women’s title for the 1st time.
She then went on to have a short yet entertaining title reign. Although she hasn’t bagged any singles gold since then, her stardom has increased substantially. This year too, she’d be hoping to replicate last year’s fortunes and apply that grit in the women’s tag-title match. She and her partner, Raquel Rodriguez, need to avoid frequent arm contact with their challengers.
Both Rousey and Baszler are submission juggernauts and can easily choke out anyone. For Liv and Raquel, the key would be to rely on their strengths without relishing the lively atmosphere at the O2 too much. It is worth noting that the duo never lost their titles in the first place. A shoulder injury for Morgan forced the pair to relinquish the straps.
