Madcap Moss on trying stand-up comedy – “I have thought about it, but I’ve never really taken steps”
Madcap Moss has recently turned babyface on WWE Smackdown.
Madcap Moss is currently been involved in a feud against his former partner Happy Corbin. They both worked as a duo of annoying heels over the late part of 2021 and till the post Wrestlemania edition of Smackdown three weeks ago where Corbin finally turned up over Moss.
But before this happened they had a solid 6 month run working as a cohesive unit. Corbin introduced Madcap Moss as his ally on the September 24th episode of Friday Night Smackdown when he blind-sidedly attacked Kevin Owens from behind. The Gimmicks of both Moss and Corbin were basically about cracking jokes on everyone and annoy the live audience to get some heat upon themselves.
Their major feud was against the Scottish warrior Drew McIntyre where they banged him up in a 2-on-1 situations throughout the rivalry which finally ended when McIntyre defeated Corbin at this year’s Wrestlemania.
Right now, Madcap Moss is moving forward as a babyface on WWE Smackdown. He’s also won this year’s Andre the Giant memorial battle Royal.
He recently disclosed some of the recent happenings he’s had in WWE while appearing on El Brunch including that he has thought to do stand-up comedy also.
“I have thought about it, but I’ve never really taken steps, serious concrete steps towards it, but it is something I’ve thought I might want to dabble in and try some day because I think there are a lot of similarities between being in a wrestling ring and being on stage doing stand up”.
“It’s something you have to have a plan and be prepared, but you have to go on the fly too, and change and adapt and know the crowd and go where the comedy takes you. It’s something I’ve talked to Dolph Ziggler about because he’s done that and taken that step. It takes a lot of guts”.
“To me, I think it would be very easy to go on stage and completely bomb and have dead silence as you’re trying to tell your jokes. I like watching Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee. They talk about, even the best comedians have nights where they bomb. That’s a tough deal.
“As a WWE Superstar, I can relate. Not every match is your best match. You have down nights. It’s something that, some day, I may do. It’s something I’vethought about and have talked to people about. As of now, there are no plans. I’m focused on in-ring, but possibly in the future for sure.”
If we reflect down the main points Moss made in this interview we can sum up that although he’s given a thought to do stand-up comedy someday but as of now there’s no such plans for him as he’s currently focusing on the in-ring stuff as a WWE superstar more. But surely there’s a possibility being open for that thing in the future.
Madcap Moss could be Lined-in for a push on WWE Smackdown
During his stint with Corbin as a heel he was always used as a backup for Happy Corbin. Fans were not completely sold upon his gimmick during that time as they thought this guy can be more than just a Joke Cracking machine.
Few weeks ago when Corbin turned on him, he fought back and received loud reactions from the live crowd which took many to a surprise. This was a clear indication that fans wanted to see this aggressive version of him who can go fight his own battles just by himself.
Looking at the lack of babyfaces on the current Smackdown roster, WWE management could consider giving a decent push for Moss based upon the reactions he drew recently. Madcap Moss is set to go one-on-one with Happy Corbin at the upcoming Wrestlemania Backlash premium-live-event.
