Professional wrestling is not at all an easy job. Several superstars put their bodies on the line for entertainment purposes, and in their efforts, they suffer horrific injuries that can be career-ending. Recently, two top stars, Kevin Owens and Charlotte Flair, suffered injuries in their respective matches. As a result, a report from PWInsider has shed light on the severity of their injuries.
Owens got hurt during a match against Grayson Waller two weeks ago on an episode of SmackDown. Austin Theory and Waller targeted and attacked the right hand of Owens, which proved costly for the Prizefighter. Although he emerged victorious, WWE later announced he suffered fractures to his fourth and fifth metacarpals. However, it was purely for the ongoing storyline, as he also wrestled the next night at a live event with a huge tape on his hand.
Meanwhile, Flair suffered an injury during her match with Asuka on last week’s episode of SmackDown. The Queen lost the match due to Bayley‘s interference, but what happened after the match was heartbreaking for wrestling fans. She was taken out by the medical staff backstage for what seemed to be a knee injury. Unlike Owens’ case, her injury is reportedly legitimate.
Owens will fight Theory on next Friday’s edition of SmackDown to progress ahead in the United States Title tournament. It will be interesting to see whether Austin uses this injury as an advantage to defeat his opponent or not. As for Charlotte, the injury seems serious, and it’s still not clear for how long she will be out of action.
The reason behind the heat between Kevin Owens and CM Punk
It’s no secret that Kevin Owens and CM Punk share a problematic past. The former Universal Champion is one of the stars who is not on good terms with the Second City Saint. In fact, when The Prizefighter was asked about Punk in an interview, he chose not to entertain the question and ignored it.
Producer Joe Feeney revealed the reason behind their heated differences. While speaking on the ‘Keepin’ it 100′ podcast, he revealed that when they worked together years ago, Punk wasn’t happy with the shape Owens was in. Moreover, the controversial superstar didn’t take too kindly to the fact that KO was fighting in a T-shirt.
So he wrestled a match in a singlet. It was against Vordell Walker and the match wasn’t good according to Owens, and then he came back to the locker room and he said jokingly to Punk, ‘Are you happy now?’ or something and Punk got in his face, but that’s it.Joe Feeney on Kevin Owens and CM Punk via Keepin’ it 100 podcast
Punk and Owens met face-to-face during last week’s edition of SmackDown, and both showed cold shoulders to each other. Fans can expect a heated rivalry between them, with some real-life animosity in the mix. It will be interesting to see how the rivalry between The Second City Saint and the Prizefighter plays out.
