The recent events in WWE have put the company in a bad light for various reasons. Many fans and wrestlers have shared their thoughts on the situation. Similarly, former WWE Superstar Maria Kanellis has voiced her opinion online regarding the Vince McMahon allegations and the overall workplace environment. After receiving backlash from a few sources, the 41-year-old has hit back and clarified the misconceptions about her time in WWE.

Maria addressed the reports on her X account, claiming that most of them were inaccurate. Moreover, she stated that the false rumors were instigated by sites and sources that are under the WWE payroll. Kanellis proceeded to explain what actually happened during her stint in the Stamford-based promotion. According to her, she was released from the company in 2010 after refusing to sign a new contract due to salary differences.

Seven years later, Maria returned alongside her husband, Mike Kanellis. However, despite many people telling her that the management changed, things seemingly remained the same. As a result, Mike requested his release. In addition to that, he never went to WWE rehab, nor was he paid for it. The couple were constantly lied to about their storyline while being ignored despite fighting back against it.

We were lied to many times about our storyline and what direction it was going. I fought back against it to no avail. We were never paid millions of dollars in WWE. We had the average contract for WWE for 6 months. We are not millionaires and we don’t live in a mansion. I hope this helps people separate fact from fiction.

At the end, she revealed that they had an average contract for six months. Therefore, refuting rumors of receiving millions of dollars from WWE. Needless to say, the Kanellis couple felt mistreated and neglected by the Stamford-based promotion.

The First Lady spoke about how her release from WWE transpired in 2020. Maria Kanellis celebrated her son’s fourth birthday, recalling how the Stamford-based promotion fired her when she was nine weeks postpartum. The then Head of Talent Relations, Mark Carano, called Mike, informing him of his release. The former asked to hand over the phone to Maria, but her husband requested that he call her personally.

Subsequently, the 41-year-old was informed of her release by Carano. The latter came under scrutiny from ex-stars for his unprofessional mannerisms. During the pandemic, WWE released dozens of wrestlers despite setting record profits, which also didn’t sit well with fans and the locker room.
