The shocking return of CM Punk still feels like a fever dream to many fans in the WWE Universe. The Best in the World left the entire WWE Universe agape with his stunning return this past Saturday. While the entire Allstate arena erupted in boisterous cheers, the talents sitting backstage did not have the same reaction to the arrival of Punk. Addressing the superstars’ resentment, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has offered his thoughts on Punk’s return.
Mark Henry weighed in on CM Punk’s spectacular comeback on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio. According to the World’s Strongest Man, some people may be unhappy with Punk’s arrival, partly because they may get less television time. However, the superstar should abide by the company’s decision, per Henry.
The 52-year-old added that the business is far bigger than any wrestler. He referenced Steve Austin, who walked out of the company in 2002, much like CM Punk did. However, the Texas Rattlesnake eventually mended the fences and came back. Similarly, Punk made amends with the company. In his conclusion, Henry said he couldn’t care less about people who put their ego above business.
Everybody always comes back. They always realize ‘The business is bigger than me, I don’t want to be on the wrong side.’ The ones that do, we don’t give a shit about them anyway.Mark Henry on Busted Open Radio
Henry also took a scathing shot at former WWE superstar Ryback, who declared retirement from wrestling if CM Punk returned to WWE. Moreover, Mark Henry has previously worked with the Straight Edge Superstar in both WWE and AEW. The former, nonetheless, is currently working for the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Mark Henry and Bully have a difference in opinion over CM Punk’s first-ever Raw promo after over a decade
CM Punk buried the hatchet with WWE and made his staggering return this Saturday. The Best in the World made his first-ever Raw appearance in almost a decade this Monday. While everyone expected the superstar to go all ballistic in his first promo, Punk had something different to offer to the fans. That being said, WWE Hall of Famers Mark Henry and Bully Ray have also offered their thoughts on the same promo.
Straight Edge Superstar’s most recent promo met with mixed reactions from the fans. The prevailing opinion was that the promo didn’t feel like CM Punk. The wrestling community went as far as accusing the WWE creative of handing out an underwhelming, PG-13 script to the 45-year-old. However, Hall of Famer Mark Henry had a different opinion.
People don't want you to change. People want your conviction to be what it is … I know I've changed. I'm not the same arrogant kid that came into the business at 23. I'm not the same guy that, in 2004, wanted to fight everybody over stuff and die on every hill.Mark Henry on Busted Open Radio
While speaking on the Busted Radio Open, Bully Ray said that the Best in the World saying “he’s changed” came across as disingenuous. On the other hand, the 52-year-old believes that the former WWE Champion has indeed taken the high road and changed his ways. Moreover, it remains to be seen what WWE has in store for the superstar going forward.
