This week on Monday Night Raw, Gunther barely survived Chad Gable. Despite the latter’s untamed heroics, The Ring General eventually prevailed in an epic clash for the Intercontinental Championship. Following Gable’s loss, his kids broke down in tears. Not only that but the current AEW talent scout, Mark Henry, too, shed tears once the bout concluded.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the 52-year-old recounted how fondly he enjoyed that instant classic from Monday Night Raw. “When Gable lost and his daughter started crying, I started crying too because I realized that pro wrestling, when done right, can emotionally affect you”, said Henry.

However, Mark Henry did not just praise the match for the performances that it delivered. Instead, the story and emotions it encompassed were good enough to melt any wrestling fanatic, according to him. Well, such acclaim coming from a 25-year-plus veteran of this industry means everything.

Gable and Gunther should be proud of what they achieved on Monday Night Raw. After all, as they say, wrestling is not a love story; it’s a fairy tale for masochists. Despite biting the dust, the Alpha Academy member is not willing to stay grounded. He vowed to regain his spot and eventually challenge Gunther for a rematch down the road.

Although it might not happen immediately, whenever they decide to run it back, the feeling is going to be legendary. They’ve already captured some much-needed history, and that’s more than enough to boast about during their inevitable clash, hopefully soon.

Gunther has etched his name in the history books by becoming the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE. We have yet to see how far he can go before he encounters an opponent of his caliber. He has run through almost every other top name during his historic run thus far.

Needless to say, there’s a slight hesitation at this point on whether anyone would be able to dethrone the Imperium leader or not. Although he has come extremely close to losing his gold at times, Gunther has managed to maintain a clean sheet. He has yet to be pinned on the main roster.

His latest counterpart, Chad Gable, is the only name to hold a count-out victory over The Ring General. It would be really interesting to see who steps up next to the record-setting champion. At one point or another, the 36-year-old would hope to cross paths with Brock Lesnar, as the former has craved a match with him.
