Ever since having their moment at WrestleMania 39, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have not gotten any worthy opponents. While SummerSlam is still far away, there have been spoilers about their possible match at the event. According to sources, Owens and Zayn are likely to clash with the former NXT faction DIY at the biggest party of the summer.
After a long time, the Undisputed WWE Tag Titles changed hands at WrestleMania 39. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens defeated the Usos in a highly anticipated match. Since then, fans have been weaving threads about many dream matches for the current champions in the tag team division. With fresh faces debuting on the roster, the possibilities for dream matches are endless.
According to The Wrestling Blog, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will possibly to face DIY at SummerSlam this year. DIY is a former NXT faction consisting of superstars Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. The two superstars could face the current tag team champions at WWE’s biggest party of the summer.
Tommaso Ciampa has been out of action for months now due to an injury. On the other hand, Johnny Gargano has been wandering aimlessly on the main roster. Being the same amount of frenemies as Zayn and Owens, DIY will undergo a reunion supposedly on the Raw after Night of Champions.
Ciampa and Gargano dominated the landscape during their NXT days. They were one of Triple H’s favorite superstars. Now that ‘The Game’ has creative control over the storylines, DIY is expected to get their main roster push, squaring off against the Tag Team Champions.
AEW Star recalls his feud with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn entered the professional wrestling world together and have been frenemies throughout their careers in WWE. Both of them, as a tag team, made their name in the independent wrestling scene.
During the better part of 2007, Zayn and Owens wrestled the Briscoe Brothers, Jay and Mark during their run in Ring of Honor. Speaking of this on the Talk is Jericho podcast, Mark recalled his matches with the current Undisputed Tag Team Champions.
Briscoe mentioned their first match at Philidelphia and said that the match was good. He said that they went out there in the ring and gave a grueling match. “I think that match went so good, and the chemistry was so right there,” he said.
