Former Retribution member Mustafa Ali to make a shocking return to WWE this week? Future Plans revealed

WWE Superstar Mustafa Ali, might be returning to TV Tapings after a 6 month leave. The former retribution leader was last seen in a WWE ring on Smackdown on October 29 last year, where he lost to Drew McIntyre in about two minutes. Reportedly Ali took paternity leave after the birth of his third child in November. In January 2022 this year, Ali publicly asked for a release from the company and it was later revealed that WWE won’t be granting him a release.
Surprisingly, Mustafa Ali hasn’t won a match in WWE since September 2 show of Main Event where he tagged with Mansoor for a win. Sean Ross Sapp of Fight-ful Select reported that Ali was pulled away from TV after “heated arguments” with Vince McMahon over creative direction and that the paternity leave was only for one show. It was also reported that Ali was to do a gimmick he would never have done in his entire life.
While sharing a video on twitter, Ali gave a glimpse of a new political gimmick which might have been rejected:
“A few weeks ago, i made a statement that some deemed controversial. My intentions were to bring a beautiful vision to life. Unfortunately, for reasons beyond my control, I won’t be able to make that vision a reality. but I can share with you what could have been.”
What can be next for Mustafa Ali?
Mustafa Ali is no doubt a gifted performer if we look at his performances in the past. The former retribution leader put on great performances against the likes of Cedric Alexander and others. The 35-year-old superstar was supposed to be pushed to the moon on the main roster after the elimination chamber match but due to the legit injury he suffered before the main event led to Kofi Kingston replacing him in the match and halting his push.
Mustafa Ali himself teased a match against Cody Rhodes, dubbing the match as “The American Nightmare vs A Real American Nightmare”. The tweet was in response to WWE’s Tweet asking for dream matchups for Cody Rhodes’
