Professional wrestling is a business, and businesses have all the concepts of rise and fall, bitterness, and resentment. The same was the case during the inception of AEW. As revealed by SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, he felt disheartened before the launch of AEW after having a match with Cody Rhodes at All In 2018.
Speaking on Inside The Ropes, Aldis revealed that when he came to know that everyone performing at All In, was familiar with each other, he felt a feeling of disappointment. They were even sure of creating AEW and had plans for the future as well. The SmackDown GM referred to the feeling as ‘betrayal’ in his interview. However, he added that it was a minute feeling that didn’t affect his performance against Cody Rhodes. He called that match the ‘real’ main event of the show.

I felt a little bit betrayed when I found out that they were all familiar, they were all aware of Tony Khan and they’d been sort of plotting this thing (AEW). As we progressed a couple of months forward, it was clear it was a done deal.Nick Aldis felt the betrayal at All In 2018
