WWE President Nick Khan breaks his silence on CM Punk amid controversy, opines on whether he’d welcome him to the company
Shortly after WWE was merged under TKO Group Holdings, Nick Khan offered his two cents on CM Punk's potential WWE return.

The same fans who disregarded CM Punk for his dismal AEW run now believe his return to WWE is the way to go. For what it’s worth, Phil Brooks had a rough phase with Tony Khan’s promotion following his second return. Moreover, things bundled up in a manner that eventually led to his firing after a backstage struggle in London.
However, WWE President Nick Khan has now commented on the matter. While speaking to Marc Raimondi, Khan relayed the fact that WWE has nothing but respect for CM Punk. Khan also wished Punk the absolute best for his future.
Nick Khan said, “Listen, we only have respect for Phil. We appreciate his run here. We appreciate what he did and tried to do with the UFC. Not many people can actually get in there and do what he did. So, when we have respect for Phil, we wish him nothing but the best.”
Nick Khan neither said yes nor denied Punk’s comeback. Of course, why would he give it away during a random interview if the company has a plan for the Second City Saint? Dave Meltzer of WON recently followed up on Punk’s wrestling future.
According to him, the best in the world might consider going to Impact Wrestling if WWE blocks his comeback. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has already reported that CM Punk encouraged an idea for his WWE return last December.
However, a positive resolution with Tony Khan kept Punk from pursuing other options at that time. Nonetheless, Punk has remained silent about his infamous AEW firing following Tony Khan’s accusations.
Could Vince McMahon prevent CM Punk’s return to WWE?
Despite regretting the fact that CM Punk received his termination letter from WWE on his wedding day, McMahon perhaps doesn’t adore Punk. It stems from the report that surfaced when the 44-year-old unprecedentedly visited an episode of RAW in Chicago back in May of this year.
After briefly interacting with a handful of WWE Superstars, Punk was escorted out of the Allstate Arena upon Vince McMahon’s orders. With the potential animosity that still exists between Punk and McMahon, the 78-year-old could become a thorn in the bushes if Punk considers a return to WWE. However, McMahon is no longer the majority shareholder of his company.
With the WWE-UFC merger, Vince McMahon might not have the exact control over decision-making he once had. He now has Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, who ranks higher in the ranks than Vinnie Mac. That could shake the entire decision-making hierarchy following the merger.
