WWE veteran Nikki Bella was one of the most successful female wrestlers from the ‘Divas’ era. She was one of the last Divas champions before the title was rebranded into the Women’s championship. The Hall of Famer had to retire from in-ring action in 2018 when doctors found there was a cyst in her brain. Recently, the Fearless recalled an uncomfortable promo segment with Awesome Kong, which she hated at the time.
In her appearance on The Sessions with Renne Paquette, Nikki Bella talked about her feud with Kharma (Kong) in 2011. In a promo segment on Raw, when Kong had just announced her pregnancy, the Bella Twins came out to mock her for being fat to get heat from the fans. While Nikki Bella reveals that she talked with her rival before the segment, she still felt uncomfortable with the content of the promo.
Nikki said, “I just remember feeling like sh*t. I went with what they said on paper; it was so wrong. And I talked to Kia [Stevens / Kong] before, Kia and I even talked after. It just didn’t feel good, and I didn’t like it. I was like, I don’t want cheap pops from the crowd anymore. Especially if it’s not approved by the women.”
The star of Total Divas talked about how she always prioritized stories over cheap pop. She always wanted to revolutionize women’s wrestling, which was the one thing she succeeded in. However, the Hall of Famer felt that they “took five steps back” after segments like these. The fans never got to see any conclusion to the feud between the Bella Twins and Kharma in WWE, as the latter never returned to the company after her pregnancy.

Nikki Bella talks about getting back in the ring
The Bella Twins last competed in WWE in the 2022 women’s Royal Rumble. However, it was just a short cameo from the sisters, which never transpired into a full-time return to the ring. In her conversation with Renee Paquette, the former Divas champion talked about how she still longs to get back in the ring and cut promos.
Nikki Bella said, “I miss it so much. I watch every now and then, and it’s only the women’s stuff. I’ll watch certain matches and I’m like, ‘that would be so fun to be a part of’ or when I hear them cutting promos. What the women are doing there is great, that’s why they need more opportunities. I wish I could be back. I would love to go back and do things. It’s just different when you’re a mom.”
Nikki usually shares her reaction to recent women’s segments on her Twitter feed. The Bellas were recently scheduled for a segment on Raw 30. However, it never came to fruition due to creative disagreements between both parties. It is clear that the sisters are still passionate about women’s wrestling, and a return down the road would not be out of bounds.
