Many WWE superstars’ bookings have remained quite nugatory on the main roster and one of them is Nikki Cross. However, she had completed her Master’s degree in history from the University of Edinburgh almost a month ago. Recently, the former NXT superstar announced the next stage in her academic career on X.
As per Cross, she has officially started her PhD pursuit in history. Moreover, the 34-year-old announced she would continue with her career in professional wrestling at the same time. She was seemingly frustrated last month after losing an impromptu squash bout against Shayna Baszler on an episode of RAW. Furthermore, this was a week after she gained her Master’s degree.
“Here we go: In 6 years time, I will be hopefully Dr Nikki hehe,” wrote Nikki Cross on her account. Furthermore, she showed her happiness by sharing the news with the WWE Universe online. Also, the former Women’s Champion uploaded a photo of her offer letter, revealing her acceptance into the upcoming program. “And before any rumors start, I will pursue my PhD as I continue my career as a professional wrestler,” she added.
Cross has had a stellar career in the WWE so far. Arguably, her greatest moment was at Money in the Bank 2021, where she captured the briefcase. Furthermore, she ended up winning the RAW Women’s title the next night by successfully cashing in. On August 30, 2022, she became the first superstar in the women’s division to challenge for all active championships in the company.
Former Sanity member reveals scrapped plans for feud against Imperium
Sanity was a WWE faction that prominently featured on NXT from 2016–2018. The group consisted of Eric Young, Nikki Cross, Alexander Wolfe, Killian Dain, and Sawyer Fulton. Wolfe recently spoke on the Developmentally Speaking podcast and shared details about a planned feud with Imperium around 2020.
Obviously, the 36-year-old was part of the Walter-led stable during that time. “There was actually a plan to re-form Sanity. The plan later was that they would separate me from Imperium because I would be the weak link,” he revealed. Furthermore, Alexander Wolfe would join forces with his ex-teammates, Eric Young and Killian Dain, on the Gold brand.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic halted plans. Subsequently, WWE released every member of Sanity from the promotion later, except for Cross. In early 2023, rumors regarding a reunion of the group circulated, but they quickly subsided.
