The Raw after Royal Rumble delivered an insight for fans on how the Road to WrestleMania might play out. First, a new change was announced at the start of the show. WWE revealed that moving forward, Michael Cole and the recently returned Pat McAfee will be the Raw commentary team.

This change has come after the Stamford-based promotion removed and later released Kevin Patrick. The personality was under scrutiny from fans and backstage officials for his underwhelming commentary stint on SmackDown. As such, WWE seemingly gave up on Patrick before last week’s episode. Michael Cole ended up replacing him on the Royal Rumble go-home episode.

The return of the Cole and McAfee duo on Raw has left many wondering about Wade Barrett. Obviously, the former Intercontinental Champion was a prominent feature on the red brand for the past few months alongside the veteran. In addition to that, there is no confirmation on who will take charge on Friday nights alongside Corey Graves.

The 36-year-old has been absent from full-time commentary in WWE since September 2022, after he left to join ESPN’s College GameDay. Therefore, fans have missed the on-screen presence of the always-enthusiastic Pat McAfee. Needless to say, the WWE Universe is elated to see the pairing of Michael Cole and McAfee back on television.

Pat McAfee reveals he would’ve picked Seth Rollins if he won the Royal Rumble

The Men’s Royal Rumble match had a few surprise entrants. One of them was Pat McAfee, who returned to provide commentary on the night. As the buzzer for the #22 spot hit zero, his entrance theme hit, and a puzzled Pat stood up to get in the ring. However, during that time, Bron Breakker and Omos were having a face-off in the ring, and he subsequently decided he didn’t want any part of it. Later, McAfee opened up about who he would have faced had he won the bout.

During the Pat McAfee Show, the on-screen personality claimed he would’ve chosen World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins. According to him, The Visionary would’ve been an easier target due to his injured knee. Moreover, he acknowledged Cody Rhodes‘ desire to win the Undisputed Universal Championship in the process.

A lot of people just assume I would go right at the big Uce, Roman Reigns. Nope. Seth Fuckin Rollins, I'm coming at you pal. I don't want to dance with Roman, and Seth has a knee (injury). By the way, (I) don't deserve the opportunity, don't desire the opportunity. Would love to watch everything that takes place. You pick Seth because of the knee thing, but Cody wants to finish the Universal (Title) story.

McAfee has competed a few times in a WWE ring. He debuted in NXT during a brief rivalry with Adam Cole and Undisputed Era. On the main roster, Pat competed against the likes of Austin Theory, The Miz, and Baron Corbin, emerging victorious in all three matches. It will be interesting to see if he steps foot inside the squared circle in the foreseeable future.
