Without a doubt, the R-Truth and Judgment Day storyline on Raw is currently one of the most intriguing aspects of WWE. The veteran has shown why he is one of the funniest stars in wrestling. However, the saga has seemingly gone longer than initially intended. Recently, the former US Champion revealed that Damian Priest is the one who convinced Triple H and higher-ups to continue with the hilarious act.
During an appearance on the Busted Open podcast, R-Truth detailed how the Judgment Day member fought to keep the story going. Interestingly, Priest is the only member who has backed him on-screen as well. The shenanigans reached their peak last week on Raw, when the 51-year-old delivered one of the funniest segments in recent times.
I will say Damian Priest, he was like, ‘Bro, we should keep you around. This thing is working.’ He actually went to, I think it was Hunter [Triple H] and the writers. Damian Priest fought for it.
R-Truth on Damian Priest vouching for his Judgment Day angle to continue
This storyline kicked off after R-Truth’s return to WWE at Survivor Series. The Awesome Truth member started to breach Judgment Day’s crib, absurdly claiming he was part of the stable. Later, the veteran defeated JD McDonagh in a “loser leaves Judgment Day” match on Raw. Since then, he’s been teased by his own faction members.
This isn’t the first time a superstar has pitched to work with R-Truth. Previously, Brock Lesnar showed he was willing to engage in a comedic segment with Ron Killings in January 2020. Needless to say, this proves why the legend is beloved by fans and talent.
R-Truth gives Judgment Day share of merchandise money on Raw
R-Truth’s Judgment Day merchandise is currently a hot commodity on the WWE shop. In fact, it was at the top of the list of merchandise sellers in the company recently. On Monday Night Raw, Damian Priest tried to confront the veteran about his act. However, the latter impressed The Archer of Infamy by handing him his share of the profit.
Later, the Tag Team Champions squared off against Awesome Truth. In the closing stages of the match, Priest delivered the South of Heaven to the 51-year-old. Senor Money In The Bank looked notably upset and reluctant to put away R-Truth. By the looks of it, the storyline is far from over, with a possible ‘face turn’ for him on the cards.
Otherwise, Damian might be the one to officially welcome him into the Judgment Day family. While the rest of the faction is fed up with his antics, it seems that the former US Champion has a soft spot for R-Truth. Fans will have to wait and see what lies ahead for the stable as they look to head into WrestleMania 40 dominantly.
