Randy Orton in WWE
WWE Superstar Randy Orton is currently out of action now due to a back injury and won’t be appearing for the rest of the year. Orton’s return has been speculated to be at the next year’s Royal Rumble. Randy Orton wrestled his last match this year in May when him and Riddle were defeated by the Usos on May 20th edition of SmackDown. The Viper was supposed to main event at the SummerSlam against Roman Reigns but plans were dropped after his injury and Brock Lesnar replaced him.
Last year, during an appearance on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions, Randy Orton spoke about the way he wants to wrestle for another decade. Orton had said that, at 40 years old he wants to wrestle for another decade if he could. He added that it is not about gaining the large muscles like that of Bobby Lashley and Batista, but about avoiding dislocating his shoulder, referring to his hypermobility in both shoulders, which has been the source of virtually all of his injuries during his career. Randy stated that it’s all about longevity for him and wants to wrestle as long as he could.
Randy Orton wants to model his latter stages of career after Ric Flair
In 2021, during an appearance on The Kurt Angle Show, Randy Orton expressed his admiration for Ric Flair. Randy has worked extensively with Ric Flair as both of them were a part of the Evolution. Randy Orton stated that he wants to be like Ric Flair when he gets to his age and feels that Flair is happy and content with his life.
Randy said that even though Flair has made many mistakes in his life, he has made many positive moments for fans millions of times. Orton stated that he would love to be in the shoes of Ric Flair and be happy and content like him regarding the career, while also being a grandfather and watch the Grandkids play.
In the same interview Randy Orton had revealed about the person who will be responsible for his retirement. Orton said that his wife has promised him that if she looks at him and thinks that he is becoming a parody of himself and unable to do things that the fans want him to do then she has promised him that she will let him know that its time for him to retire. Randy said that he trusts her to inform about him about it and until then he is going to enjoy wrestling.
“My big thing and my wife Kim has promised me, that if she looks at me and she thinks I’m becoming kind of a parody of myself or if I’m unable to do the things that the fans need to be able to physically see me do, in order for them to believe, you know, that an RKO still has as much sting as it once did. You know, if I can’t do all those things, she has promised me that she is going to let me know that it’s time to hang up the boots, and until then, I’m putting my trust in her, and I’m just going to enjoy what I do because I got great kids.”
Randy Orton has had an illustrious career and is surely going into the WWE Hall of Fame one day. Orton is for sure an inspiration to many young talents around the world.
