The team of Raquel Gonzalez (now Raquel Rodriguez) and Dakota Kai became the inaugural NXT women’s Tag Team Champions after they won the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team classic. Both were like best friends in and outside of the ring. Raquel and Dakota are two-time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. Raquel Rodriguez was an integral part of WWE NXT’s programming during the pandemic-era.

She became the NXT Women’s Champion during that time-period too. Raquel talked about her friendship with Dakota, she said –

“It was just really cool to have that moment with Dakota again, because I love her so much. She’s such a beast when it comes to everything that she does. And she’s just so creative and amazing. And it was just really fun to have that moment with her. And whether it was for a couple hours like the first reign or three days like this past one, all I have to say is that we were the first ever and the first two-time ever.”

But as we are familiar with the fact that friendships don’t last long in WWE. The same thing happened between these two soulmates. Growing jealous of the accomplishments and accolades Rodriguez was earning on NXT, her friend Dakota finally turned on her during the July 27th episode of NXT.

At NXT Takeover 36, Raquel defended her NXT Women’s Championship against her former friend Dakota Kai. At the event, Raquel successfully defended her title.

Raquel Gonzalez could be the next “big thing” In Women’s professional wrestling –

Raquel is a former NXT champion and 2-time NXT Women’s Tag-Team Champion. She’s a second generation superstar. Her father Rick Gonzalez was also an independent wrestler in South Texas. Billed in at 176 pounds and a height of 6ft, she can be the next woman WWE management would love to have on the top of the food chain.

Raquel Gonzalez (now Raquel Rodriguez) received her main-roster call-up 2 weeks ago on Smackdown where she was seen getting interviewed backstage until the Los Lotharios (Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo) interrupted her. She’s set to make her Smackdown in-ring debut next week.
