WWE had announced a bunch of legends ahead of time for “Raw is XXX” this past Monday. Although most of them were delivered as promised, a duo that was missing from the show was the Bella Twins. Following the show, there was still no official announcement from WWE addressing this change. However, Nikki and Brie Bella have come out with the real reason they didn’t show up on the show.
During an Instagram live, the Bella Twins revealed that they weren’t happy with the way they were going to be presented at the event. Nikki said, “How don’t they show anything from the women’s evolution?! Because Sasha Banks is in it, and they were like ‘we can’t… because Mercedes is too over and we can’t say her name.’” Brie added to her sister’s point, “There’s a couple of other girls and [Saraya], there’s a bunch of us they didn’t wanna show.”
As the Bellas said, there were no mentions or references to Sasha Banks (Mercedes Monee) or Paige (Saraya) on the show. They were missing from any video packages showcasing the 30 years’ history of Raw, despite having some of the most memorable moments and matches there. However, the Bella Twins did get a mention from SmackDown women’s champion Charlotte Flair. The 14-time world champion highlighted their role in the women’s evolution of WWE.
Will Bella Twins return at the Royal Rumble?
Nikki and Brie Bella were two of the most popular women in the WWE during the Divas era. The sisters have both held the Divas title in the company at least once. Additionally, Nikki Bella was the second last Divas champion in the company before the title was discontinued at WrestleMania 32. The twins are also known for being the main attractions of the reality shows, Total Divas and Total Bellas. They had their last run in WWE in 2018 when Nikki Bella had a short rivalry with Ronda Rousey.
The tag team was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020, recognizing their long and memorable career in WWE. However, the Bella Twins returned to the ring after more than three years when they entered the 2022 Royal Rumble match. As Raw XXX was also the go-home show for this year’s Royal Rumble, fans expected some hints from the sisters about a possible appearance at the 30-woman match. However, the recent disagreement will most likely spoil all these plans. This creative conflict will not sit well with both parties, and we might not see Bellas on our screens anytime soon.
