This week Monday Night Raw, brought about a noticeable change in its staging, catching the attention of fans accustomed to the usual setup. However, this alteration wasn’t just a creative decision by the company, it was a response to unforeseen circumstances.
The episode featured the return of Xavier Woods and Gunther, adding excitement to the build-up toward the Royal Rumble PLE on January 27. Becky Lynch made a bold declaration, vowing to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match and face Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40. In the main event, Seth Rollins successfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Jinder Mahal in a match that generated significant buzz.
The reason behind the staging change became apparent when reports surfaced. The decision was driven by safety concerns and practicality. The Simmons Bank Arena in North Little Rock, Arkansas, faced challenging weather conditions, prompting WWE to adjust its usual staging.
Heavy snow on the venue’s roof, coupled with the need for ground rigging, made the traditional ceiling-hung stage unsafe for fans. The move was a testament to WWE’s commitment to fan safety, ensuring a secure environment for the live audience.
Despite the unexpected change, Raw maintained its momentum, delivering an entertaining show and addressing key storylines. The altered staging served as a necessary adaptation to external factors, showcasing WWE’s ability to navigate challenges while keeping the audience engaged.
WWE files trademarks for ring names
WWE has taken steps to secure trademarks for emerging talents, submitting applications for Jazmyn Nyx, Lainey Reid, and Carlee Bright. Filed on January 15 with The United States Patent and Trademark Office, these applications fall under the entertainment services classification.
Jade Gentile embodies the persona of Nyx, while TyLynn Register assumes the character of Reid, who recently debuted in the wrestling ring just two months ago during an NXT house show. Reid, a professional rodeo champion and a track and field athlete from Jacksonville State, joined WWE in the spring.
Gentile, on the other hand, has been gaining experience in house show matches since August, primarily engaging in tag team tussles. The trademark applications underline WWE’s commitment to nurturing and protecting the identities of its rising stars within the entertainment landscape.
