'The Queen' Charlotte Flair is back to rule the entire SmackDown Women's division. She left out for this long due to a minor health issue, as revealed by her father.

Charlotte Flair ended 2022 with a bang. She turned up on the last SmackDown episode and made headlines. In the process, she eventually captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Ronda Rousey in an impromptu match. The Queen seized a roll-up victory to grab the gold. However, everyone kept wondering what took her so long to return.
This has finally been answered by her father, Ric Flair. While making an appearance on After the Bell podcast, Naitch unveiled the real truth behind his daughter’s extended absence. Actually, she originally planned a hiatus to marry her fiance, Andrade El Edolo. But, in the meantime, Charlotte also cured her teeth, which was injured in that “I Quit” match against Ronda Rousey.
Mentioning the hardwork her daughter has done over the years, this break was desperately needed. Who better than Ric Flair himself would know about the unimaginable hurdles of staying in this business. So to rejuvenate oneself and restore the passion for this industry, it’s better to walk away, sometimes.
“I’m so happy for her, and they’re very, very happy, and you know what happened? It happened at a time where she could take a break, where they didn’t get married and then go back to work. The arm thing with Ronda and she got hit in the mouth in that same match and had a major issue with her teeth, which are from all the years of cheerleading, wrestling, and whatever else, but it was a well deserved rest. I mean, sometimes it’s good to walk away from it.”

Charlotte Flair seeks fresh opportunities on WWE SmackDown
The newly crowned SmackDown Women’s Champion got interrupted in her return speech by Sonya Deville. This led to a title match between them. Showing no signs of ring rust, Charlotte Flair retained her strap, courtesy of a Figure-8 leg lock. After the match, Flair did a slight miscue with referee Jessica Carr.
When the ref was handing over the SmackDown Women’s Title to its holder, the champ forgot her character for a second. Although, it wasn’t that big of a botch, the clip is making the rounds on social media. Nevertheless, the real question is, what’s next for The Queen?
According to some previous reports, she’s not facing Ronda Rousey again. With that being said, she’s very likely to receive a fresh opponent very soon. Gazing through the meagre women’s roster depth of the blue brand, the new arrival Tegan Nox can be a great option for a short-term feud.
