Chris Van Vliet‘s The Insight Show is famous for uncovering several interesting information from the guests. Recently, Rick Boogs, aka Eric Bugenhagen appeared to discuss his time with WWE. He also reflected on the torn quad patella suffered by him at WrestleMania and his dejection from in-ring competition. This seems like a possible hint towards retirement for the time being.
Boogs was eloquent in his address about his wrestling career. He talked at length about how much focused he was to build his body suitable for wrestling. It was even after that that he met a terrible injury in his first WrestleMania match. It seems the experience was epiphanic for Boogs as he seemingly wishes to hang his boots. To quote him:
I was like, if I’m gonna commit to this other endeavor, I just quit my job. I just got unemployed for the sake of you know, getting hungry that I really wanted to make it happen, which my wife was not happy about. She was like, ‘Why did you have to quit?Rick Boogs in his Interview
It seems Boogs sacrificed a lot to land at the Stamford-based company. While his fans miss him a lot, it seems he created several profound memories in his brief stint with WWE. His powerhouse style added with a Rockstar’s wildness made him a phenomenon to behold as he entered the arena alongside Shinsuke Nakamura.
Rick Boogs on the desperate times he faced before joining WWE
Rick Boogs was recently a part of The Insight Show by Chris Van Vliet. He was asked about his days of struggle and he recalled how he had to give up on his day job. Boogs stated how it was after this big sacrifice that upset his family, which finally landed him a place on the WWE roster.
I got unemployed for the sake of getting hungry, to really want to make it happen... I believe in myself. I think that's the only way to truly live your life.Rick Boogs during the Interview
It seems Boogs was in a mood to deliver a message through his own career. He joined WWE in 2017 and had a struggle of 6-years under his belt. He also believed that the retirement of Vince McMahon killed his career. He believed there weren’t many fans of his work in the new regime.
It seems many other superstars would agree with his perspective. Recently, WWE Hall of Famer, Adam Copeland sat in an interview to define the difference that he saw working under Triple H, Vince McMahon, and his current employer, Tony Khan. Boogs’ statement once again revealed the roles that Creative Heads play in determining the direction of the career of their talent.
