Rene Dupree was a popular name in WWE during the early 2000s and began his wrestling career at the age of 18 by signing with WWE. It is a very rare that WWE signs teenagers, and Renee Dupree is one of them. Dupree wrestled at Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2002 and debuted in the WWE in April 2003.

Dupree, along with Sylvain Grenier, formed the “La Resistance” and established themselves as a prominent tag team in the company. The La Resistance won the tag team championship by defeating Kane and Rob Van Dam at the Bad Blood in 2003. This made Renee the youngest champion in WWE history at the age of 19, and he held this record until 2018, when Nicholas won the RAW Tag Team Championship at the age of 10.

After the disbandment of La Resistance, Rene Dupree pursued his solo career, once feuding with John Cena for the US Championship, but he failed to win the Championship. Dupree left WWE in 2007, citing the Chris Benoit double murder suicide as one of the reasons for his departure. Since then, Dupree has wrestled around the independent circuits, AJPW, and is currently a part of Pro Wrestling Noah.

Rene Dupree often shares stories about his experiences in the WWE and wrestling stories on his podcast, Café De Renee. During a recent edition of Café De Rene, Rene Dupree shared an incident involving former WWE Diva Shelly Martinez. Dupree explained the origin of the real-life heat between them.

He described how he once saved Martinez’s dogs from being struck by a car and then took them safely back to Martinez’s apartment, where the door was open and there was dog poop here and there. Rene Dupree continued by saying that Martinez had an attitude and simply said “thank you” when he told her he had protected her pets and locked the door to her apartment to prevent a robbery when Martinez got home. Dupree detested Martinez’s unappreciative attitude toward him.

“I see those two little f**kers in the middle of the parking lot almost get hit by a car. I’m like in my boxers, I got no shoes on, I’m barefoot, I’m f**ing running out trying to chase these little bastards you know, pick them up because they were going to get killed,”

“I’d seen her whenever she got home…She’s like, ‘oh, thanks.’ Like ‘I saved your dog’s life and I, you know.’ – ‘I said thanks!’ [imitating Martinez] Just the disposition, just the f**king attitude. (…) just like the attitude and plus you’re just a sh**ty wrestler,”

As I mentioned, Rene Dupree shares stories about his experiences in the WWE on his podcast, Café De René. He also has a story regarding Cody Rhodes. On a recent edition of Café De Rene, Dupree stated that Rhodes was entitled during the early days of his career and he had no experience and had no talent but he still got hired at the age 21.

Rene Dupree stated that Cody Rhodes was just trying to be a Hollywood actor during the early days of his career. Dupree also shared how he once approached Rhodes to offer him some guidance as he was new in the business, but Rhodes didn’t appreciate the help and took offence to it.

“I first met him like, entitled? like a hundred and f**king percent right… He got hired, no experience, no nothing, he was 21, he was trying to be an actor in Hollywood. Hey man, you’re just starting out, I’ll help you out any way I can. I sincerely meant it but it’s almost like he took offense to it like you don’t even have a match, I don’t give a s**t who your daddy is,”
