The news of Terry Funk’s demise made the WWE Universe mourn his passing earlier this Wednesday. The Hardcore Icon passed away at the age of 79, mainly due to suffering from dementia. Several WWE stars have paid tribute to the Hall of Famer and extended condolences to his family. But amidst this saddening news, Ric Flair has brought up ESPN’s inability to show respect for the late Funk.
The Nature Boy has taken to X to write about how ESPN is focused more on covering football news than Terry Funk’s demise. Ric Flair stated that ESPN should be ashamed of not telecasting Funk’s news. Flair said that ESPN instead covered the news of a footballer getting arrested the day before. He lambasted them and said that he was completely shocked.
Funk was one of the pioneers of the professional wrestling industry and was great friends with Ric Flair. Thus, Ric has a special place in his heart for him which he said out loud through a tweet on X. The 16-time world champion described The Funker as a hard worker and equally fearless wrestler who is irreplaceable.
Funk was considered one of the most versatile wrestlers in the business. As he set a new standard for brutality in sports entertainment, he also had much of a technician in him. Being one of the most celebrated wrestlers, he even made his mark in Hollywood in Paradise Alley with Sylvester Stallone in 1978.
