The Nature Boy, Ric Flair, has made some bold statements about his former employee Vincent K. McMahon. The former owner of WWE made it the biggest pro-wrestling company in the world after he came out on top in the Monday Night Wars against WCW Nitro.
Despite being the company’s largest shareholder, Vince McMahon retired from WWE in July 2022. This was a result of the reports that came out earlier in the month about the ongoing investigation against McMahon. The Wall Street Journal was the first to break the news that McMahon has paid a whopping $12 million as “hush money” to four women to conceal sexual misconduct. He announced his retirement after three weeks via Twitter.
During the most recent episode of the “To Be The Man” podcast, Ric Flair weighed in on his former WWE Boss. Despite being surrounded by controversy, he believes Vince has a quality that his former employer Eric Bischoff will never have.
He lamented, “Let me tell you something, here’s the deal. For whatever, and it makes no difference, I have no opinion, nothing. Vince McMahon can walk anywhere in the world today, and regardless of what people are upset with him for or not, he’s f***ing Vince McMahon. The guy we’ve been talking about, big difference.”

The relationship between Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff

For the uninitiated, Ric Flair worked with Eric Bischoff during his run in WCW in the 1990s. Flair was a figurehead and one of the biggest stars in the company as it went head-to-head with the WWE (then WWF). It is no secret that the animosity between the two started way back then. Flair has made it clear that he is not friendly with the former WCW Boss and has been in the past as well.
According to the two-time WWE Hall of Famer, Bischoff wanted to “make an example of him” when he missed a taping of Thunder. Flair took his son to AU nationals that day, which upset Bischoff and fueled the fire between the two.
Eric Bischoff has also made statements about the 16-time World Champion on his podcast, “83 Weeks.” Bischoff defended himself and argued that Hulk Hogan was a much bigger draw for WCW than Ric Flair.
“Ric’s a great performer, don’t get me wrong, he’s a legend, but when it comes to business, I had to do what I had to do, and apparently that just rubs Ric the wrong way and he can’t let it go.”
Flair is currently not contracted to any company and has been making independent appearances at signings and other events. He wrestled his last match in 2022. The event was held by none other than Jim Crockett Promotions and was aptly titled “Ric Flair’s Last Match.” Although the Nature Boy has expressed a desire to enter the ring more than once.
