WWE legend Ric Flair is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. In fact, he is one of the most decorated athletes in the business, winning a world title on sixteen different occasions in his career. Recently, the Golden Stallion revealed that a movie based on him is currently in the works.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club on 105.1 FM, Ric Flair made a surprising revelation. Also, he claimed that the movie centered around his career has nothing to do with his upcoming book. However, the Nature Boy refused to give any more details on the Hollywood adaptation, seemingly mentioning that work started right after the writer’s strike ended.
“I know. Guess what? It’s coming down. No [it’s not based on my book]. I can’t tell you any more than that. I just got the word… The writer’s strike is over; I can’t say any more,” the WWE Hall of Famer said. Apart from his in-ring success, Ric Flair’s personal life somehow found its way to media attention. Moreover, the WWE legend also had his fair share of controversies.
Needless to say, the upcoming Ric Flair movie will definitely be a must-watch for wrestling fans. Currently, the 74-year-old seemingly holds free agent status. Previously, he stated that he is currently busy with his other ventures. Flair said that a return to the WWE would entail him handing over 50% of his profit from his energy drink brand to the promotion.
Ric Flair reveals Vince McMahon implicitly told him to retire
Ric Flair had an illustrious career in pro wrestling that spanned almost four decades. However, it took a long time for the former Evolution member to “hang up his boots.” Recently, the Nature Boy mentioned why he retired from the WWE in 2008, despite wanting to wrestle longer.
In an interview with The Breakfast Club on 105.1 FM, Ric Flair revealed that it was Vince McMahon who implicitly told him to retire. “I could, but actually, I could, but I won’t. I didn’t wanna quit. At the time, Vince McMahon said, ‘it’s time,’ so okay,” said the Hall of Famer.
Therefore, the Golden Stallion would compete in a “retirement match” against Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 24. After competing in his final match in the WWE, Ric Flair would go on to wrestle for almost a decade in other promotions. In fact, he even fought last year at the age of 73.
