“Seems like it’s forming one to me”- Road Dogg takes a dig at CM Punk regarding his backstage issue in AEW
CM Punk in AEW
CM Punk is one of the prominent and popular names in the wrestling industry and is widely known for his time in the WWE. Punk was a prominent figure of the WWE and was named as Most Popular wrestler of the year in 2011 and 2021. He has also been ranked no.1 by the PWI in the list of top 500 wrestlers in 2012. CM Punk left WWE in 2014 as he was unhappy with the treatment he was receiving from the company. Thereafter he pursued a career in MMA but it turned out to be a failure. In 2021, CM Punk joined AEW and has been a 1-time AEW World Champion.
CM Punk discussed his rival Moxley in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated. He said that Moxley and he are comparable to one another and that, while in the WWE, they weren’t treated fairly. Punk said that Moxley was consistently denied opportunities, which is why he felt unfairly treated by the organization and was angry of it. Additionally, CM Punk mentioned that despite having battled Moxley ten years prior, they are different in the ring now. On August 24th edition of AEW Dynamite CM Punk lost the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley, thereby ending his reign of 86 days.
Road Dogg feels CM punk’s AEW career going on the same line as his WWE career
On the latest edition of Oh…. You Didn’t know Podcast Road Dogg spoke about the backstage situation that CM Punk is involved in the AEW. Road Dogg said that Punk is following the same pattern he did in the WWE.
“So, fast forward to 2022, and apparently, he’s still going into somebody else’s office talking about going home! Look, I don’t know if it’s a pattern with you or not, but it sure seems like it’s forming one to me,” noted Road Dogg. “And so, look, let’s continue. I just wanted to throw a jab. I just wanted to throw a jab at Punk.”
CM Punk had given a contentious promo on AEW Dynamite on last Wednesday in which he had disparaged Former world champion Hangman. On the “House of the Dragon” episode of AEW, Punk challenged Hangman to a championship fight, even though Hangman wasn’t available on the show. This resulted in Punk labelling him a coward, which sparked a heated online debate about whether Punk had gone too far and overstepped his bounds.
Tony Khan has spoken out about the issue now and has said that the whole matter was due to an unresolved anger from CM Punk’s side following his match against the Hangman at Double or Nothing 2022.
