“I just thought oh, this guy,” Road Dogg comments on Vince McMahon’s potential thoughts about Lars Sullivan

“I just thought oh, this guy,” Road Dogg comments on Vince McMahon’s potential thoughts about Lars Sullivan

Lars Sullivan was anticipated since his 2017 WWE debut. He was fast-tracked since his debut but in 2021 he was fired.

Lars Sullivan made his TV debut in 2017, and since then, he has sparked the interest of fans and WWE executives, who have enormous expectations from the wrestler. Indeed, he was promoted to the main roster faster than any other WWE star up to this point. However, his momentum began to dwindle when Vince McMahon discovered that Lars Sullivan had appeared in adult movies as Mitch Bennett years before joining WWE.

In a recent episode of the “Oh You Didn’t Know” podcast, WWE’s famous veteran star Road Dogg talked about the situation of Lars Sullivan leaving WWE. He believes that Sullivan left wrestling due to industry pressure and his inability to deal with Vince McMahon’s expectations.

“Dexter Lumis is a great guy. I didn’t get to know Lars that well, to be quite honest with you. Look, I thought he was, I thought Lars was going to be something special in this industry.”

The veteran claimed that Lars Sullivan is a great person, and he doesn’t know him very well. But when they first met, Lars was very respectful towards Road Dogg and thought he would be one of the best upcoming WWE stars. Dogg claims that Lars Sullivan was so powerful that he was one of the industry’s strongest ever. With 6 feet plus and 320 pounds of solid muscle, he could rock the WWE if they gave him a fair chance in the industry.

“I just thought oh, this guy is going to be somebody, Vince thought the same thing. I think it put too much pressure on the kid and he kind of backed out of it all.”

According to Road Dogg, Vince McMahon also thought Lars Sullivan would succeed in the business, but the pressure imposed on him due to his prior professional history may have caused him to back out.

Lars Sullivan has not touched the ring since his release from WWE. In fact, during an interview with Fightful after a long conversation, he claimed that he is “likely done” with professional wrestling and wants to focus more on his life outside the ring. Lars was one of the most divisive WWE Superstars of the present era, with big muscles and a massive build. In January 2021, the company terminated his contract for personal reasons. Still, one of his iconic moments in WWE was entering the ring to beat Kurt Angle.

His most prominent opponent in the WWE was the Miz, but Sullivan’s most recent bout was a victory over Chad Gable on WWE SmackDown on October 23, 2020, in which he gave a mind-blowing performance; however, after that, he was never seen in the WWE Arena again. Following his release, he quietly retired from professional wrestling. In the last year or so, Lars hasn’t posted anything on his Instagram account, where he used to be pretty active with his gym workout videos.
