“I’m not at the right level yet”; When Ronda Rousey compared herself to a competitive Sasha Banks in 2019
Ronda Rousey is a bona fide WWE star and she proved it when she returned to the WWE after 3 years of absence from the company amid cheers from the fans. Initially in her first run with the company, she was cheered heavily by the fans but later many didn’t like her persona. This time it’s a different story, when she made her appearance in the WWE, she was received by roaring crowds who were happy to see her after a long time.
Currently in her second run as a Women’s Champion, Ronda Rousey in her initial dream run with the company, she faced the likes of Asuka, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair and even won the Women’s Championship. Even though facing such dream opponents, Ronda back then was not satisfied and wanted to feud with ‘The Boss’, Sasha Banks. In a 2018 interview Pro Wrestling Illustrated Presents podcast, Ronda said that she would have something great with Banks:
“I would really love to wrestle Sasha Banks. I’ve been so impressed watching her work and seeing her from the back and watching her work. I was already a fan of her from before. I think we’d be able to make something great together.”
She even said that, at that point, she was not ready for Sasha Banks:
“I think she’s given a lot of women their best matches ever, but I almost feel like I’m not at the right level yet for her. I think we could make something really special or something great, but I don’t know if I’m at the level that’s ready for that yet….in a perfect world, I would definitely love that, for sure.”
Ronda and Banks later faced each other in a title match which ‘The Baddest Women’ eventually won and the two competitors showed respect post-match by helping each other up.
