The year 2018 saw a huge change in the women’s wrestling industry. First of all was the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match which saw superstars like Nikki and Brie Bella make their return to WWE and megastars like Ronda Rousey make their debut in the company. Second of them was the all women’s pay-per-view, Evolution, which brought a giant change in women’s wrestling.
Nikki and Brie Bella returned to in-ring action following their Royal Rumble appearances and were friends with the Raw Women’s Champion (then), Ronda Rousey. But just before the Evolution pay-per-view, the Bella Twins betrayed Rousey and shocked the world.
The twin sisters then, during an exclusive interview in WWE, said that they returned for Bella-lution: “Brie and I are here for Evolution, but we’re here to remind everyone, even Ronda Rousey, that this is a Bella-lution”. These words from Nikki Bella earned her a Raw Women’s Championship match against Ronda Rousey at Evolution which saw the two former friends battle one-on-one.
How did Ronda Rousey react to the betrayal from the Bella Twins?
Talking to TMZ Sports, Ronda Rousey expressed her anger and frustration when was asked about the betrayal. The Baddest Women on the Planet then called them “a bunch of untrustworthy b–es.” and said: “On one hand you could say that I lost some good friends, but on the other hand, you could say I gained the knowledge that they were never friends. And now I can use them to benefit the whole women’s division.”
