“A way to pay homage”: Ronda Rousey wants to honor WWE Hall of Famer

Ronda Rousey is one of the biggest names in the world of professional wrestling today. After dominating the world of Judo as well as Mixed Martial Arts, The Baddest Woman on the Planet arrived on WWE in 2018. Currently she is involved in a feud against the Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair.
Rousey made her in-ring debut at Wrestlemania 34. She had teamed up WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle to face Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in a Mixed Tag Team match. Interestingly, Angle and Rousey have a lot in common. Both of them are former Olympian athletes and the WWE Hall of Famer has even trained Rousey for her career inside the squared circle.
Interestingly, Rousey still uses the Ankle Lock – a move which was widely popularized by Kurt Angle. While speaking on her vlog, Ronda on the Road, the UFC Hall of Famer mentioned that it is her way to pay homage to Angle. The WWE Hall of Famer is very dear to Ronda Rousey as he was the first mentor for her in professional wrestling.
“I just really want to be able to put over Kurt as the whole reason I’m doing the ankle lock. That’s a way to pay homage to him. That’s all I really care about getting out, because he was my first mentor in this business, and I’ve never really got to honor him outside of our tag. People compare us all the time because we were athletes outside of WWE and then came to it,” mentioned Rousey.
Ronda Rousey will be action at Wrestlemania Backlash
The Baddest Woman on the Planet made a surprise return to WWE at Royal Rumble 2022, which she went on to win and challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship. They collided in the co-main event of Wrestlemania Saturday – where Flair managed to retain the title.
But Ronda Rousey isn’t giving up easily. She will be going after the title once again at Wrestlemania Backlash. This time a much more brutal brawl is on the card – with The Queen and The Baddest Woman on the Planet set to collide in an I Quit match.
