When it comes to the peak level of thrill and excitement, Royal Rumble has got to be the top contender on WWE events calendar. We’ve seen countless of magical moments being produced during these action-filled matches throughout the years. We’re less than three months away from the 36th annual Royal Rumble event.

As known to many, next year’s Rumble will witness WWE revisiting the host city of San Antonio at The Alamodome. This venue has previously hosted two different editions of Royal Rumble, back in 1997 where the local boy Shawn Michaels defeated Sycho Sid for the WWF World Championship, while the most recent one in 2017.

It won’t be a wrong statement to quote that Royal Rumble may be the favourite event for many, equalling to Wrestlemania levels. The same fact is clearly visible in the ticket sales for it’s forthcoming edition too. As noted on WrestleTix Patreon, the company has already sold 30,157 tickets, leaving just 3,717 unsold ones behind. The entire arena is yet to open and will surely add more seats as per the demand.

We can expect a legit sold-out for next year’s Rumble as there’s still plenty of days left until January 28, 2023, the date of marquee event. The 1997 edition saw “Stone Cold” Steve Austin emerge out as the winner of 30-man Royal Rumble match. Further, the Apex Predator Randy Orton clinched the same title back in 2017, last eliminating Roman Reigns after an earth-shaking RKO.

What can we expect from Royal Rumble 2023?

WWE will commence The Road to Wrestlemania 39 after Royal Rumble is done. However, to ensure amalgamation of huge matches and better storyline pay-offs, we need a newsworthy Rumble, to say the least. Last year’s edition saw Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey being the respective Royal Rumble match winners.

If reports are to be believed, the “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes is the frontrunner for next year’s mega victory. If true, he will end up challenging Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Wrestlemania in Los Angeles, assuming that Reigns will hold the title until then.

For the women’s scenario, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair are being called as the current favourites in their division. The rumoured working plans for Raw Women’s title had Bianca Belair squaring off against Charlotte Flair at the Showcase of the Immortals, while Becky Lynch finally getting that singles match against Ronda Rousey.

We can consider the latter a more likely happening. We can really comment on what else to expect between Rumble and Mania next year, however this would be the first occasion where things will be under the control of Triple H and his team, which itself increases up the bar of extracting the absolute best.
