“Triple H comes out, hits me with a pedigree just over and over and over” – Frustrated Rob Van Dam Recalls Harsh Memories

WWE Hall of Famer Triple H

Last year, when superstar Rob Van Dam (RVD) was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, another superstar Triple H complimented the 51-year-old. The Game said that RVD’s distinctive move set changed the wrestling entertainment business is done.

During their peak years, these two behemoths had some of the most remarkable fights in the history of the sport. Between September 2002 and June 2003, Triple H defeated RVD in all four of their televised one-on-one battles.

During that same period, The Game also clinched victory in several other feuds, sparking charges that he “buried” some of his coworkers.

Recently, RVD just added fuel to that discussion.

Triple H was “qualified to make important decisions”

The one-time WWE champion appeared on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast. During the episode, he opened up about his experience of working with Vince McMahon’s son-in-law.

The former WWE champion said, “I remember being very humbled. I think the fact, I’m winning, I’m winning, Triple H comes out, hits me with a pedigree just over and over and over. How many times do we have to tell this story that I can’t beat this guy no matter what?”

He further added, “I wasn’t happy about the situation at the time. Again, competitive state of mind, you don’t look at it when you’re across the ring from him and you’re both competing for the love of the crowd.

He continued, “You don’t look at it like, ‘Hey, this guy is, not a CEO, but whatever his position was at the time, is qualified to make important decisions. He sits in the meetings. He’s one of the guys that directs the paths of where the whole show is going’.”

Triple H got some creative privileges, unlike other superstars of the time

As RVD mentioned, Triple H was on the WWE creative staff in the early 2000s. The position allowed the 14-time world champion to have a say in his own storylines, a power that other celebrities did not have.

No one likes to lose. And it has been quite common for veteran fighters to foul play in media interviews decades after their on-screen conflict ended. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case with RVD. Like all humans, he too despised losing at the time. But the 51-year-old fondly remembers most of their thrilling encounters.
