Sometimes it’s difficult to choose between the obvious. And that’s what Triple H made the fans do this week. A WrestleMania spot was up for grabs, and Sami Zayn nailed it. He’s now set to vie against Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40. However, Zayn upset Chad Gable, who was a prohibitive fan favorite heading into last night’s gauntlet match.

Though Sami was the one to bet on as he’d been in those shoes, Gable was someone who was looking to carve his destiny. For the latter, it just meant more. And especially after his tempestuous beef with The Ring General last year, Chad wanted to school the Imperium supremo. But it just wasn’t for him on Raw. The 2012 US Olympian was the last entrant in the gauntlet match, much to the astonishment of the fans.

That’s because the Alpha Academy leader talked a big game of running through the gauntlet to secure a quota for WrestleMania. The man he had to beat, Sami Zayn, came out a couple of spots prior. Both men went the distance, but it was the former “Honorary Uce” who won. Zayn’s triumph instigated an online discourse on social media, with many people advocating for the 38-year-old Gable.

They believe that WWE once again snubbed the man who was once honed as the next Kurt Angle. Gable had the backing of both the 2024 Royal Rumble winners, viz., Cody Rhodes and Bayley. But, as one would say, he bottled it up. Following the match, Sami hugged it out with Chad as a sign of mutual respect. The IC title holder, Gunther also came out to stare down at his next challenger to end the show.

Was Chad Gable robbed against Sami Zayn on Raw?

Technically, Chad Gable is out of the IC title contention at WrestleMania. But there’s a catch. As pointed out by some eagle-eyed fans on X, Chad’s shoulders weren’t firmly grounded on the canvas while he ate the pin.

It might be hoping against hope, but that’s what some fans are willing to do at the moment. It might be pedantic, but it could be a renaissance for Gable if WWE decides to acknowledge it. Nonetheless, the former ‘Shorty G‘ had a commendable outing on Raw.

Despite going down, he stood out. Now the question is, if not for the working man’s title at WrestleMania, what will Gable do? Or worse, he may have to be on the sidelines and watch his peers set the stage ablaze in Philadelphia.
