It will be in a week when Mercedes Mone can be seen inside a squared circle. On the February 13, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite, termed Big Business, Mone is likely to become All Elite. It would be nearly 10 months later that she would hit the rings, recovering from an ankle injury. All this has resulted from a chain of events that started back in 2022 when Mone, then known as Sasha Banks, walked out of WWE.
Being on The Kick Rocks Wrestling Podcast, Banks stated that leaving WWE was the hardest decision of her life. Being a WWE superstar was something she aspired to throughout her life, and she even became successful. However, she feels that decision was the proudest, to the extent that she even felt it had brought her to this best version of her life. It was something in her that made her do this for herself.
The Boss feels thankful for that moment and even prouder of Trinity aka WWE’s Naomi for being equally stronger. All she knows is that the situation was handled like a CEO in a way that she holds her head high even now. The former IWGP Women’s Champion does not mis-regard WWE but feels amazing to have been a part of it. The career she has had, the fans she earned, and the dreams she carried were valuable.
That moment changed my whole life for the better. I’m so thankful for that moment, so proud of myself, so proud of Trinity, so proud of how strong we were.Mercedes Mone about her 2022 WWE walkout
In May 2022, Sasha and Naomi walked out due to creative disputes with Vince McMahon. Their departure resulted in their Women’s Tag Team Championship being vacated, and they were suspended due to such actions. Now that McMahon is no longer part of WWE, Naomi has turned up to the Stamford-based promotion once again at this Royal Rumble 2024. But Mone has made her decision to distance herself from WWE and work for their rival promotion, AEW, in the near future.
AEW Big Business match card so far
Mercedes Mone suffered an ankle injury in her match against Willow Nightingale at NJPW Strong Resurgence in May 2023. Now that The CEO is likely to hit the rings after 10 months, facing Nightingale would be the perfect moment for her. Having the bout kick off the AEW Big Business episode next week and Mone debut after the match in order to confront Willow would set the pace for the rest of the show.
Darby Allin is facing Jay White in a singles match later on the show. The thrilling match would have White’s agility combined with Allin’s risk-taking maneuver to deliver an epic showdown. Although Switchblade has Bullet Club Gold for his support, Darby is walking in with no real support as such.
The most likely main event would have AEW World Champion Samoa Joe defend his title against Wardlow. The Undisputed Kingdom‘s member earned the opportunity to face Joe this Sunday at Revolution. The powerhouses battling it out for the prestigious AEW title would be exciting enough.
