Former Shield member came rushing backstage to congratulate Iyo Sky after she won WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam
A photo of Seth Rollins congratulating Iyo Sky at SummerSlam has been making the rounds on the Internet.
The Shield and Iyo Sky
Iyo Sky reached the top of the mountain at SummerSlam. She defeated Bianca Belair to win the WWE Women’s Championship in what was her Money In The Bank cash-in. A photo of the new champion sharing her moment with former Shield member Seth Rollins went viral recently.
The Damage CTRL member has had an eventful year since her debut. From debuting on the main roster at last year’s biggest Party Of The Summer to winning her first Women’s title, Iyo has shown her talent. It seems most of her colleagues were elated for the new champ, as members of the locker room congratulated her.
One of them was the current World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins. Many wrestlers backstage have looked up to the Visionary. Therefore, it was wholesome to see him congratulate Iyo Sky by hugging her as soon as she came backstage. Certainly, the rising star has earned the former Shield member’s respect.
Both Iyo Sky and Seth Rollins left the premium live event with gold on their shoulders. The latter successfully defended his title against Finn Balor after an entertaining encounter that went back-and-forth. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old took the perfect opportunity to cash in her briefcase after the triple-threat bout saw new champion Bianca Belair injure her leg.

Damage CTRL makes a massive statement on SmackDown
This past Friday night, SmackDown kicked off with a bout between Charlotte Flair and Asuka. The two women were a part of the triple-threat match at SummerSlam, losing against the EST, Bianca Belair. However, it was Iyo Sky who had the last laugh as she successfully cashed in her MITB briefcase to become the new Women’s Champion.
During the match between Asuka and Flair this week on SmackDown, Bayley, Dakota Kai, and the newly crowned champion came out, distracting both women. This led to the match ending in a no contest. The Damage CTRL members laid out the exhausted challengers as Iyo stood tall in the ring.
It was a clear message from the faction that they were ready to take on everyone gunning for the belt. Interestingly, Bayley shouted out loud, “We are the Women’s Champion,” implying she believes the title is hers as well. This led to fans speculating that the Role Model is jealous of her teammate’s new-found glory.
