This week’s SmackDown was an incredible show for the WWE Universe. The saga between The Bloodline and John Cena progressed to the main event of the show. However, for the fans in attendance, the action didn’t stop there. After SmackDown went off the air, Intercontinental Champion Gunther faced Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship.

The two superstars gave an outstanding match to the crowd in attendance. The match had many near-falls and close counts. In the closing moments of the match, Rollins delivered a Falcon Arrow, only to follow it with a Curb Stomp. The fans were on the edge of their seats to see The Visionary end the Ring General’s streak. However, Imperium interrupted the match, as a result of which Rollins won via disqualification.

Seth Rollins battled Gunther in what many believe to be a WrestleMania-caliber match. Their epic clash in the dark match on SmackDown garnered high appreciation from the WWE Universe. Gunther and Seth Rollins are both Monday Night Raw superstars. However, they never crossed paths on the main roster on WWE television.

Gunther is highly rumored to win the Royal Rumble match next year and go on to face Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. However, this interaction between the two can be a tease for their upcoming program. WWE might have other plans for both champions heading to WrestleMania 40.

Seth Rollins took a shot at Roman Reigns after SmackDown went off air

Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns’ careers have always intertwined. Their rivalry kicks off from their time in the Shield to going solo and continuing until this moment. Recently, after SmackDown went off the air, Seth Rollins took a shot at Roman Reigns after having a match against Gunther.

Seth Rollins, after a grueling matchup, took on the microphone. He addressed the WWE Universe as he started recalling the show. He said, “You got LA Knight! Guys, you got the greatest of all time, John Cena! You got the Universal Champio…” followed by a cr*zy sarcastic laughter. For context, Seth Rollins made fun of Roman Reigns’ part-time schedule, as his last appearance was on SmackDown after SummerSlam.

Rollins is subliminally calling out Reigns. The two former members of the Shield are destined to cross paths at some point. It will be interesting to see if Roman and Seth will have a program shortly. The last battle between the two champions was at the Royal Rumble 2022, which had a controversial ending.
