The World Heavyweight Championship started with a video package hyping up the upcoming match. Seth Rollins and Finn Balor share a long history, and it was evident that they do not like each other as they made their acquaintances. Just like Cody and Brock, Rollins and Balor also did not waste any time, and they attacked each other before the match could start.
Finn Balor had a tattoo that read “Seven,” indicating the number of years since the last time the two faced each other at the Biggest Party of The Summer. Even during the match, the two men constantly kept going back to the moves from their first match at SummerSlam 2016. Finn Balor even threw Rollins into the barricade, similar to 2016, when the Visionary did the same and injured Balor.
However, chaos broke out when Damian Priest walked out into the ring, distracting everyone involved. Finn Balor misunderstood the situation, thinking that Priest was there to win the title for himself. The Mr. Money In The Bank made it very clear that he just wanted to help him.
He, then decided to take matters into his own hands and threw his briefcase into the ring, and tried to distract the referee. Watch the video to see what happened during the last moments of the match:
Finn Balor tried to take advantage of this and went to pick up the briefcase. However, Seth Rollins ran towards him and stomped Balor on the briefcase. This resulted in Seth Rollins retaining his title and walking away as the Judgment Day members looked at each other with disapproval.
What’s next for Finn Balor and Damian Priest?
SummerSlam did not go as planned for the members of the Judgment Day. Damian Priest came down to the ring when Finn Balor was in his match against Seth Rollins. This caused miscommunication between the two, as Balor thought that Priest was sabotaging his chances of winning the title. Therefore, the distraction helped the Visionary retain his championship.
After the match, Seth Rollins got out of the ring and made his way back while The Judgment Day members looked at each other in disgust. This has fans wondering what will happen in the coming weeks on RAW. Finn Balor and Damian Priest did not break up officially but have been teasing dissension for a long time. There’s a good possibility that Balor turns on Priest and the group breaks up.
The other possibility is that the two mend their fences now that Balor’s feud with Seth Rollins has likely ended. The Judgment Day is currently one of the hottest acts in WWE. Therefore, it would not make sense for WWE to break them up and make them go their separate ways. Fans will have to at least wait for Monday Night Raw to get more details about the matter.
