Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship match was supposed to set-up a DIY reunion months ago, kept getting nixed by WWE several times
The WWE Universe got blessed with the long-awaited reunion of DIY on last week's episode of Raw. However, it was supposed to happen long ago.

In WWE, plans do change at the last second. Although it’s very frustrating for any wrestler, the former NXT tag-team champions, DIY (Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano), suffered the most. There were plans for them to reunite over the summer on television. However, Triple H’s vision for his NXT favorites got scrapped, and the plans for the reunion were abandoned.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, in May, when Seth Rollins issued an open challenge on Raw for his World Heavyweight Championship, the original plan was for Tommaso Ciampa to answer the challenge, followed by an appearance from Johnny Gargano, leading to the reunion of DIY. However, Vince McMahon had different plans, and the reunion didn’t materialize.
He nixed everything moments before the show went on air. Johnny Gargano’s absence from Raw left fans disappointed, especially considering the missed opportunity for his hometown reprisal with Tommaso Ciampa. Gargano expressed gratitude to fans on social media for their unwavering support despite his absence from the show.
Now, as the entire wrestling fraternity witnessed last week, the duo of Gargano and Ciampa is back. The Blackheart got a pleasant surprise when Johnny Wrestling returned to save him from the wicked claws of Imperium. Time constraints cit short the segment with the European elegance team and they ended up hugging it out after the show. On commentary, Michael Cole confirmed the return of DIY.

Has DIY’s first WWE feud on the main roster revealed?
The way Raw ended last week indicated what to expect in DIY’s immediate future. After launching an attack on Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, the leader of the Imperium, Gunther, wouldn’t be elated, to say the least. He beat Ciampa in a grueling contest to continue his reign of terror. The Ring General is closing down on 500 days as the reigning Intercontinental Champion.

Though he might’ve curbed the Tommaso Ciampa effect, what if Johnny Gargano asked for a crack at Gunther’s title, too? Well, it might happen, as DIY looks set to have Imperium as their initial foe on the main roster. Being optimistic about this, under Triple H’s creative direction, there shouldn’t be anything that could halt DIY’s ascend to the top.
The duo sent ripples through the NXT universe back in the day. If done right, they could be a legitimate threat to the tag team champions in the future. Both Gargano and Ciampa know how to work cohesively, and that would be the eventual key for them to replicate a chuck of their success from NXT on the main roster.
