“He would never get another pop”- When Shane Mcmahon got fired by his own father for this mistake
Vince had fired Shane after his mismanagement of the premium live event Royal Rumble,
Shane McMahon has been surrounded by controversies this year. While he was never signed back as an employee he did play an important role in creative decisions till Royal Rumble 2022. He also appeared as in-ring performer in the event and was also the creative director for the Rumble as well. And as per many reports, the show didn’t go well with the fans and The Ex-Chairman of the company Vince Mcmahon as well. There were unplanned changes to the format of the show in particular to The Royal Rumble Match. The order was messed up, changes were being made at the last moment, it was all a mess to put it in a nutshell.
Shane McMahon had pitched a lot of ideas to Vince, in which he wanted to plan a spot to highlight himself, this also included entering at no.1 spot in the Rumble. Though this idea was turned away by the former CEO of the company and Brock Lesnar, McMahon still managed to highlight himself by entering at No.28 instead of the originally assigned 29 and shuffled it with Randy Orton. This led to a huge heat backstage which ultimately resulted in Vince firing his son.

Shane also took a long time in the ring than he was supposed to, while Shane o Mac had to be eliminated within minutes of his arrival, he stayed in the ring for long and even made it to the bottom three, before being eliminated by Brock Lesnar. This also led to Vince canceling all future plans for Shane, as it was being reported that he could have also been seen at Elimination Chamber and Wrestlemania as well.
According to Sean Sapp of Fightful Wrestling Vince was heard yelling backstage and vowed that his son would never return to this company after this mess. As per sources Vince said- “he would never get another pop in this company as long as I’m around,” Though the later reports suggested that he said it in a fit of rage but also felt that he was justified as the changes had also made Lesnar quite unhappy who was the top star at that time in the company. With Vince recently announcing his retirement from the company in all capacity, would Shane McMahon be able to make a return to the company?
