Several famous personalities from other sports have left their marks in WWE, with a few appearances. Mr. T, Mike Tyson, Pat McAfee, Gronk, and many others have memorable moments in the company that are remembered by fans. However, when WWE went to London in 2015, it did not turn out well for former Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett because of veteran football player Wayne Rooney.

Rooney was shown sitting in the audience with his family for SmackDown, which took place in his hometown. During the show, Sheamus took on Cesaro as Wade Barrett accompanied the Irish wrestler for his match. Before the match began, the two superstars took cheap shots at Rooney and got a lot of heat. Even while the match was going on, the Celtic Warrior was annoyed by the footballer and came down from the ring to face him.

However, as he was in the match, Wade Barrett came to push Rooney back. This cost him a lot, as Barrett was smacked in the face by the English footballer to a loud pop from the crowd. Sheamus recently reacted to a throwback video and said, “And Wade never Wrestled again. Rooney is a cheap shot scumbag.”

Recalling the moment, Sheamus hilariously took a jab at Rooney, as Wade Barrett wrestled only for a few months after the incident. Currently, he is a part of the color commentary team for SmackDown with Michael Cole. Previously, he was in NXT, calling the matches and being a part of the pre-show panel.

The latest episode of SmackDown was kicked off by the US Championship number one contender’s invitational fatal four-way. Sheamus fought Rey Mysterio, Cameron Grimes, and LA Knight in the opening contest, and the winner was supposed to face Santos Escobar in the finals of the match. The match started as all four men fought against each other to get closer to a shot at the US title.

The United States Champion Austin Theory was sitting on the ringside to see who might be his opponent. During the match, Rey Mysterio and Sheamus teamed up and started using Sheamus’ iconic move on LA Knight and Cameron Grimes. They performed the “Ten Beats of Bodhran” simultaneously on their opponents.

Rey Mysterio won the match and will face his LWO member Santos Escobar in the upcoming week’s episode of SmackDown. The winner of this match will then face Austin Theory at SummerSlam for the United States Championship.
