The Ring General Gunther has been one of the most dominant superstars of 2023. He has proven his supremacy time and time again in the ring. There are very few superstars in WWE who are on par with the Ring General. One such name is Sheamus, who took Gunther to his limits in their last showdown. Recently, the Celtic Warrior teased another run with Gunther through his X.

Sheamus, on his X, replied to a post. The post was asking who might dethrone Gunther in the future for the Intercontinental Championship. Interestingly, the Celtic Warrior replied to the post, saying he has some spoilers regarding the reign.

Only time will tell if WWE would like to book Gunther vs. Sheamus once again. Furthermore, the two stars have an incredible ring chemistry, which makes the fans delighted to see them every time they step foot in the ring. It is going to be the next step for Sheamus upon his return after an injury hiatus.

WWE’s creative decision bothered Sheamus in his last showdown against Gunther

Sheamus and Gunther delivered a match-of-the-year performance at Clash at the Castle last year. The two stars were in a top feud, and some fans wanted to see Sheamus dethrone Gunther in the United Kingdom. However, that was not the case, as the Celtic Warrior suffered a big loss.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Sheamus expressed his frustration over the loss of momentum after losing to the Ring General. He stated that the loss was fine. However, the waste of the organic momentum he had during that time was frustrating for him.

I'm not upset about [losing] at all, I felt it was great, it was just the type of character Sheamus is, all fists and elbows. What I was upset about and what really bothered me was the creative after that. I came out of that with so much organic momentum, and it was just wasted. It didn't go anywhere.

A lot of fans would agree that Sheamus’ momentum was wasted after the Clash at the Castle. He was involved in some random feuds afterward, and a possible championship run went nowhere. It is going to be interesting to see if WWE will playback the iconic Gunther and Sheamus rivalry once again to let the Celtic Warrior redeem himself.
