Gunther has been one of the most dominant Intercontinental Champions of all time. His indomitable reign has made the title prestigious once again. The Ring General is on the verge of creating history as the longest-reigning IC Champion. Recently, former WWE Champion Sheamus took a sarcastic shot at Gunther’s reign.
The Celtic Warrior posted an edited image of Gunther on X. He wrote a hilarious caption, saying, “A stain on the legacy of Honky Tonk Man.” The edited image features Gunther with an old look and a white beard. The photo has a caption saying no one remembers Gunther after 35 years. Sheamus always finds a way to troll other superstars on his X account.
Gunther has been on an unprecedented reign as the Intercontinental Champion in WWE. On the other hand, Sheamus has been his one formidable rival. The two superstars have crossed paths multiple times on the main roster. Despite getting a number of chances, The Celtic Warrior failed to win the IC Championship.
The Ring General is days away from breaking the legendary record of the Honky Tonk Man. Gunther recently defended his championship against Chad Gable this week on RAW in a marquee matchup. It will be interesting to see who steps up against Gunther next on the Red Brand.

The Imperium leader has been unstoppable since winning the Intercontinental Championship last year against Ricochet. He recently defeated Chad Gable in an incredible match on Monday Night Raw. After the match, Gunther spoke about his victory, and he looked very confident.
In an interview backstage, Gunther said, “As long as I’m alive, there’s no man born yet to take this title off me.” The Ring General looked very confident, as he is days away from inscribing his name in the pages of history. He also mentioned names such as Steve Austin and Triple H in his interview.
Gunther is arguably the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. He will look to solidify his reign as he creates history on September 8.
