Simone Johnson, the 20-year-old daughter of WWE legend Dwayne “the rock” Johnson was Signed by WWE and sent to train at the Performance Center in 2020. Johnson recently revealed her wrestling name as “Ava Raine”, for which the 20-year-old received backlash and criticism. Several supporters and fans were dissatisfied that she didn’t choose a name that was more closely related to her famed father’s or family’s name.

Simone Johnson has reacted to the criticism and backlash and shared the following tweet,
“I probably sound like a broken record & hopefully this is the last I’ll mention this, but I don’t understand why people being portrayed as separate individuals from their family name is such a heated topic.”
Replying to her own tweet she further said,
“I could build my entire career around my father & people would still bash me anyway.”
Former Wrestling commentator and trainer Jim Cornette who has worked extensively with WWE in the past was astonished by the fact that WWE changed the Rock’s daughter’s name. Jim Cornette, on his Podcast Cornette’s Drive Thru reacted to Simone’s new name, Ava raine and lambasted WWE.
He said,
“Her name is not… if she’s not going to use Simone Johnson and they’re not going to use ‘Little Rock’ or ‘Little Pebble’ or ‘Female Pebble’ or whatever, what the f*ck is she even there for? She’s the daughter of the most famous wrestler in the goddamn history of the company, now, currently, since he’s the biggest movie star in the world and they’re going to change her name so that you don’t automatically know she’s The Rock’s daughter on the card, but she’s The Rock’s daughter,
The Rock struggled to establish himself in the WWE in the beginning. He began his career as a mediocre wrestler who went by the names Rocky Maivia, Flex Kavana, and so on. He changed his name to The Rock later on. His reign as The Rock was a huge success, thanks to his irresistible charm and charisma, as well as his tall, muscular body.
