WATCH: 30-year-old Superstar steps-up to John Cena on SmackDown after the latter raves to win his 1st singles match in over 2000 days
On this week's SmackDown, something drove John Cena back into the mode he's made a career of.

Amidst the euphoria of a packed house in San Antonio, John Cena decided to be brutally honest on SmackDown. After getting a cordial reception from nearly 14,000 fans in attendance, the 16-time World Champion highlighted a glaring issue. Putting his heart out, Cena admitted that he hasn’t won a singles match in 2,002 days. And that made him think of retirement.
However, John Cena was in a mood tonight, and he put that agony on the back burner to issue an open challenge. And guess what? Solo Sikoa answered the call. They’ve crossed paths in recent weeks, and it finally looks like WWE is constantly planting seeds for a future showdown between them. Now, as soon as Solo teed off with Cena, Jimmy Uso decided to crash the party.
After an ugly-looking superkick towards Cena, The Greatest of all Time was in a spot of bother. Both Solo and Jimmy were about to demolish the WWE legend until a hoodied man at ringside decided to pull Jimmy out. It was none other than Jimmy’s twin brother, Jey Uso. The latter completely ramroddled Jimmy, avenging his tag title loss with Cody Rhodes on Raw this week.
Back in the ring, John Cena too gained motivation as he delivered an Attitude Adjustment on Solo Sikoa. That ended the segment on a high for The Cenation Leader as he sought vengeance. Well, it’s absolutely bonkers to even think about the point Cena made on SmackDown.
For real, he has yet to win a one-on-one match since 2018. Yes, his WWE schedule became extremely paltry once Hollywood commitments crept in. However, it’s still a streak he would like to break as soon as possible.

John Cena may get his wish at Crown Jewel
As seen, John Cena is at the forefront of WWE’s official poster for Crown Jewel. That pretty much confirms that he will travel to Saudi Arabia for the first time since wrestling Triple H in 2018. As for his opponent, after this week’s SmackDown, it’s clear as daylight who would face him.

WWE is seemingly trusting Solo Sikoa to be in that spot with John Cena. At the moment, though it’s not official, Sikoa and Cena are going to vie for supremacy in Riyadh, it seems. If that gets the nod, it will be Cena’s first singles match since losing to Austin Theory at WrestleMania this year.
He would love to put that misery behind him and get back to winning ways. It’s high time for the soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer to remind everyone what he’s made of.
